First and foremost, make sure you have the adp server ip address listed in the trusted sites, and also make sure it's set to low (even after setting it to low, you still have to go back in and enable almost everything under active-x) Make sure cookies are set to "override automatic cookie handling" and that you accept both first party and third party cookies. always allow session cookies.
Secondly, if still getting the error it might be with a software load that didn't automatically install. if you go to the web server on the adp box ... it's the ip address of the server with /sport/ after it. You'll see the various software loads available. We just rolled up on the newest version of drive (1.6.2) and it didn't automatically installed the newest managed assemblies.
